Husband got forced to work three 12 hour days in a row.
I never see him anymore.
Baby did NOT sleep well last night... woke up every hour crying.
Turns out baby is sick. Running Nose. Cough. Red Cheeks. The Whole Works.
Husband comes home at 5am again tonight. (Started work at 5pm.)
I work tomorrow at 8am.
Grandma can't watch baby til 12:30pm tomorrow.
Can't bring baby else where because she is sick and we don't have a formal babysitter to pay.
I'm forced to call off work for the first half of my day tomorrow. LAST NOTICE. Can't call in til morning.
[Probably contributing to the reason women are discriminated against in the workforce.]
Been only partially successful cuddly & comforting my crying baby all day and night.
Bought a pack of disposable diapers for $40 today, accidentally. [Thought they were only $20.]
Too late to return them because we broke open the box & changed baby's diaper before paying.
Feeling guilty for not using cloth diapers for an entire month.
Disposables make her poor little bum bright red from diaper rash. gDiapers are much better with that issue.
Feeling guilty for giving up baby sign language.
[I still sign bottle, diaper, clean, dirty, more, I Love You, Water, and All Done... but what's the point if no one else does.]
Barely have time to reflect on how my own life is not going in the direction I want it to.
I'm stuck, feeling hopeless, and giving up on my own life.
Praying for sick baby to sleep through the night tonight.
Praying she is all better by morning and that I'm not sick.
Unlikely.

15 Ways To Comfort A Sick Baby
![]() |
(Ways to Comfort a Sick Baby) |
Here is what I've done to comfort my poor little sick baby.
- Give Infant Tylenol
- Long playtime in the bathtub
- Suck away boogers with booger sucker
- Give more bottles instead of solid foods
- Listen to soft music
- Wrap her in blanket & rock her.
- Wrap her in blanket & read books. Especially ones where you can touch different animal furs like Touch & Feel Zoo
... which we have & she absolutely loves! :)
- Keep her in pajamas all day, or any warm, cozy clothing
- Extra naps because her 2 normal naps are interrupted by sneezes & coughs
- Do anything to make her laugh... if she's up for it of course (Distraction Method!!)
- Make loud noises, animal sounds, anything funny
- Peak-a-boo
- Patty Cakes
- Give High Fives (her new favorite!)
- Sing her favorite songs... Itsy Bitsy Spider, ABC's, & Rock-A-Bye Baby
- Give sippy cup filled with water
- Lots of hugs & kisses, as always <3
- Early bedtime-- make sure to tuck her in with her favorite stuffed animal.
- Turn on humidifier in her room at night

Advice for Mommy,
Miss A Photos,
Sickness
It's been a Puffs & Jammies kind of Day...
Miss A and I got the sickness!! Bill has been coughing like crazy for almost two weeks now and we have been fine until recently. He finally decided to go to the doctor's office two days ago and they told him he has bronchitis, a stomach virus, and an ear infection!! Not what he expected to hear... but at least he is on his way to recovery finally. The doctor prescribed him with some "help-me-i'm-dying" drugs so hopefully he will be better soon. However... while he is on his way up, poor Miss A and I are on our way downhill. Miss A is coughing and sneezing and crying and yelling and blah.. She is not feeling very well. Either am I. We both feel really warm. I tried to take both of our temperatures... but our three thermometers do NOT work! I tried them all several times. Here are the readings I got. 95.7, 96, 96.1, 97.3, 101.1, etc... None of them were consistent. As of now, I am assuming we are not feverish. We eat food without vomiting and... so far so good... I gave Miss A a bath early this morning and have been feeding her more bottles than solid foods. She looks like a train wreck. Poor little girl. I'm not as bad as her... Thank God or I don't know how I'd take care of her! Though, I've taken a dose of the cure-all Dayquil, which unfortunately she can not have at 8 months old. Here are some things that have helped to calm her sort of. I gave her some baby Tylenol for aches and pains related to the common cold that she might have. It did not work though. She has been fussy ALL DAY. Her naps are interrupted with coughs, sneezes, and just an inability to breathe through all the snot & phlegm. (pleasant, huh?) Poor baby. I've been sucking up her boogers with that blue booger sucker and wiping her nose with tissues all day. SHE HATES IT. I hope she is better tomorrow. And I hope I can remain in a decent condition because taking care of a crabby, sick baby is no fun with a throbbing headache and achy body too. I'm just praying for her to sleep ALL NIGHT AND ALL MORNING. She needs lots of sleep... ME TOO.
